Ciro/ Tumbador.

Name: Ciro “La Clave” Jimenez

Born: San Salvador, El Salvador.

Instruments: Tumbadoras, Pailas, Drums, Bongo and minor percusion.

History: A late starter into music, in 1998 at the age of 19 picked up his first instrument (Drums) and his first introduction to Latin music. In later years picking up the Pailas to add more flavour and authenisity, followed by the Bongo and now onto Tumbadoras. Developing his rhythm under the wing of his older brother (Herbert) and then taking his own journey afterwards to develop his sound and what he has become today. His early begginings in Latin Music genre were rhythms like Soca, Merengue hip hop and Apanpichao, Cumbia, Mexican Corridos, Ballenatos, Salsa,Latin Jazz, Boleros and later more complex rhythms like Cuban Son Montuno, Cha-Cha, Guarachas, Changui, Songo, Pilon, Guaganco, Samba, Batucada, Maracatu and now his favourite Timba/Musica Popular.

Music Influences: Ruben Blades, Oscar De Leon, Sonora PonceƱa, El Gran Combo de P.R., Los Van Van, Elio Reve, NG La Banda, Charanga Habanera, Irakere, Manolito y su Trabuco, Dan Den, Isaac Delgado, Carlos Manuel y el Clan, Adalberto Alvarez, Munequitos de Matanza and many more…

Bands: Brazza Band, Mestizo, Candela, The Wholias and many more….

Career Highlights: Womanadelaide 2001, Suporting act With Brazza for the Diva From Cuba Omara Portuondo 2002, Glenelg Jazz Festival 2003, Tour down under various years, Fringe Festival and Tour in China With J&B Whiskeys.
